Thanks all now I'm leaving
by wozadummy indue to funkyderek i have come to the decision to leave this board.
when i posted on the current gay thread in a way that i thought would stimulate thinking and lighten up the seriosness of the thread and have a laugh, he and others put me down publically labelling me.
so i find it difficult now to continue posting knowing that someone has influenced others into thinking that i'm not worthy of being here because my phrasing and spelling is bad and that i'm apparently a "hyporite".

Your last line says it all...its like leaving friends. Friends understand, and friends argue and friends make up.. Then they argue again. That's part of what makes them friends.

If we were in Bible times, I would be stoned...(by my family)
by megsmomma ini was just researching some things and saw an article scan from 4-15-88 watchtower.
it talks of an unrepentant "wrongdoes", like a son who was a drunkard and glutton, and if he was unrepentant when brought before the judges, his parents would have a part in executing him.
my mom had said to me last time she was here..."it's a good thing we are not in bible times, you would be stoned!

Natural affection.....my boys feel much closer to the nonJW side of the family who live 1200 miles away, than their JW grandmother who lives down the street.
Now that's natural affection for you. It must have been helped along by all those Xmas's we spent up in Chicago.

megsmomma...the other thing about that bothers me about that reasoning....I have two sons....I would die myself, before stoning them....I don't care what it would cost me....Abraham, Isaac yada yada I know....I still would not sacrifice my child for my own benefit.

It's funny how that evil line of reasoning really stands out to them when most can't even find a scripture if they had to.
It is evil. Its like an abuser telling his victim that they should be thankful that he is only going to break her finger and not her arm.
I like you, winced when she said it....It is evil.

thats sad momma of meg....the WTS using the anology of stoning.....my MIL tried to use that reasoning on me recently when trying to justify her position of arbitrarily shunning her daughter after 27 years. I told her that analogy is ridiculous.
Soooooooooooo much if not all of what the WTS writes down in their magazines is for the JW's themselves, with the sole intent of controlling their thinking. This is a perfectly illustrated case. Its ludicrous. Just like shunning. Anyone not brought up a JW would look at them and say "What are you nuts?"....Or the tract that noone cares about.
It doesn't help the hurt you feel, but if your mom and my MIL used the same reasoning, it just means that the WTS has them brainwashed and that there is a very deliberate method to their madness.
I'll tell you what though, it is there using analogy of stoning and cruel use of shunning that thoroughly convinces me that if they could, the WTS would rule no differently than the Taliban. New Order = WTS police state. No thanks.

Gays Leave JWD!
by hambeak ini got a phone call from a person that i gave my phone # to.
and this person said that gays are not welcome here and this is not what this board was really about.
i told them that this is only one part of the crap that the wts did to people and that we are people too.

Wozadummy: I don't see anyone giving sympathy to Hambeak "because he's gay." I do see sympathy for the way he was purportedly treated. Big difference
Astute comment! My beef is that I don't like it when men act like wussies! Calling up the dude and going all off on him is being a wussie!
This is a forum. If wussie boy had any real kahoneys he would have posted a thread giving his views, not call up the dude and do the Pat Robertson dance.

Psychiatry will try to talk you out of all spirituality because they are strictly behaviorist; and psychology will try to talk you right in to the Occult and New Age unitarian/universalist concepts
Chaiyah, I don't want to hijack this thread as LL's book recommendation will no doubt benefit people, and since your post contains no reference to anything LL posted, it seems oddly out of place. Since you are an author, I would guess that you would be sensitive to others commenting about what they think that your book might contain before actually reading it. Would you do me a favor and begin a seperate thread elaborating on this concept highlighted above? It so completely goes against my experience being raised as a Unitarian Universalist, going to college and studying Psychology, and my personal experience of talk therapy with a trained professional.
LL please forgive my intrusion.
